How to Play Reversi

Objective

Have more discs of your color than your opponent when the game ends. The game ends when neither player can make a valid move.

Basic Rules

• Black always moves first
• Place your disc to outflank opponent discs
• Outflanked discs flip to your color
• You must flip at least one disc per move
• If you have no valid moves, you pass

Outflanking

You outflank opponent discs when you place a disc such that one or more opponent discs are in a straight line (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal) between your new disc and another disc of your color.

Strategy Tips

• Corners are highly valuable - once taken, they cannot be flipped
• Edges provide stability and are good positions
• Avoid giving your opponent access to corners
• Think ahead about what moves will give your opponent good options

Winning

The game ends when neither player can make a valid move. Count the discs - the player with more discs wins!
