How to Play Black

Black is a creative puzzle game where your goal is simple: turn the entire screen black. But each of the 30 levels uses a completely different trick \u2014 there's no single rule to learn! You'll charge orbs, eclipse the sun, dim stars, hold pressure plates, snuff candles, spell words, memorize sequences, solve ciphers, trace shapes, decode hexadecimal, and much more.

The key is experimentation: tap, drag, hold, spin, type, and look for clues. If you get stuck, tap the hint button for a text clue specific to that level. Levels are organized into 6 difficulty tiers from Beginner to Master, so the challenge ramps up steadily.

Tips & Strategy

• Read the hint first: Every level has a unique hint. Tap the hint button before you start tapping randomly \u2014 it tells you the core mechanic.
• Timing matters: Several levels (eclipse timing, countdown stop, speed test) require precise timing. The hint will tell you if speed or rhythm is involved.
• Try different gestures: Not all levels use clicks. Some need holding (charge orb, pressure plate), dragging (eclipse, dials, circle trace), or rubbing (dust off).
• Math levels: Later tiers include number puzzles \u2014 perfect squares, Fibonacci, hexadecimal, Pascal triangle. Have a calculator handy for the Expert/Master tiers.
• Memory levels: Echo and sequence levels get progressively longer. Focus on one segment at a time rather than the whole pattern.
• Use the level select: Stuck on a hard level? Skip it and come back. Tap the menu button to access the level menu.
