What is Sandwich Sudoku?

Sandwich Sudoku is a Sudoku variant where, in addition to the standard row, column and box rules, a clue number sits outside each row and column. That clue gives the sum of the digits strictly between the 1 and the highest digit (N) in that row or column - like the filling of a sandwich whose crusts are 1 and N.

How do I play Sandwich Sudoku?

Tap an empty cell to select it, then tap a digit on the number pad to place it. Every row, column and box must contain each digit exactly once, and the digits between the 1 and the N in each row and column must add up to the outside clue. Use Notes mode to pencil in candidates and Hint to reveal a correct cell.

How to Play

Goal. Fill the grid so every row, column and box contains each digit from 1 to N exactly once.

Sandwich clue. The number outside each row and column is the sum of the digits between the 1 and the N in that line. The 1 and N act like the two crusts of a sandwich.

Example (9×9, clue 12): 5 7 [1 8 4 9] 6 3 2 — digits between 1 and 9 are 8+4 = 12. A clue of 0 means the 1 and N are next to each other.

Controls. Tap a cell to select it, then tap a digit. Toggle Notes to pencil candidates. Hint fills a correct cell. Undo reverts your last move.

Tiers. 4×4 Beginner → 6×6 Easy/Medium → 9×9 Hard/Expert/Master.
