Minesweeper Online — Free Classic Mine Sweeper Game
Play Minesweeper online for free! This is the classic mine sweeper game you know and love, rebuilt for the web. Choose from three difficulty levels — Beginner (9×9), Intermediate (16×16), or Expert (30×16) — and test your logic skills. Works perfectly on desktop and mobile with no download needed.
How to Play Minesweeper
Click/tap any cell to reveal it. Your first click is always safe.
Numbers (1–8) show how many mines are in the eight surrounding cells.
Right-click (desktop) or long-press (mobile) to place a flag on suspected mines.
Auto-reveal: clicking an empty cell automatically reveals all adjacent safe cells.
Win by revealing all non-mine cells. Click a mine and it's game over!
Minesweeper Strategy Tips
Start from corners or edges — they have fewer adjacent cells, making them easier to deduce.
Use the 1-2-1 pattern: when a 1-2-1 sequence appears in a row, the middle cell under the 2 is always a mine.
If a number is fully satisfied by flagged mines, all its other adjacent cells are safe to reveal.
When in doubt, flag the cell instead of revealing it — flags cost nothing and prevent mistakes.
In Expert mode, look for "clean" rows or columns where mines must be in known positions.
Minesweeper Number Colors
The classic color coding helps you read the board faster at a glance:
Click any cell to reveal it. Numbers show how many adjacent cells contain mines. Use logic to deduce mine positions, then flag them with right-click (desktop) or long-press (mobile). Clear all safe cells to win. Your first click is always safe!
What do the numbers in Minesweeper mean?
Each number (1–8) tells you exactly how many of the eight surrounding cells contain mines. A "1" means only one adjacent cell is a mine. Use this to systematically deduce every safe cell on the board.
What is the best strategy for Minesweeper?
Start from corners or edges where there are fewer adjacent cells. Use the "satisfied number" technique: if a number equals the count of flagged mines around it, all other adjacent cells are safe. The 1-2-1 pattern is also a reliable shortcut in intermediate and expert games.
Can I play Minesweeper on my phone?
Yes! Tap to reveal cells and long-press (hold for about 0.4 seconds) to place a flag. The board automatically scales to fit your screen. Keyboard controls (arrows, space, F) work on desktop.
Is Minesweeper free?
Absolutely — this Minesweeper is 100% free, no download or account needed. Just open the page in any browser on desktop, tablet, or phone and start playing instantly.
